The Census of Public and Semi-Government Sector Employment is a vital statistical exercise that offers comprehensive insights into employment patterns within these sectors. Initiated in 1980 and periodically conducted by the Department of Census and Statistics, it serves as a crucial tool for policymakers, administrators, and researchers in understanding workforce trends and enabling informed decision-making for effective governance and public service delivery. This preliminary report provides an initial overview of employment distribution, workforce demographics, and sectoral composition based on institutional-level summaries prepared immediately after the May 2024 census. These findings, which will be refined in a detailed publication, contribute to evidence-based policy formulation and strategic human resource planning by capturing data on employment structures, gender representation, and occupational classifications. The successful execution of this census and the preparation of this report would not have been possible without the dedicated efforts of the staff of the Research and Special Studies Division, to whom I express my deep appreciation, as well as the sincere cooperation of all government and semi-government institutions that provided timely and accurate data. As we share this preliminary report, we look forward to continued stakeholder collaboration in improving the quality and relevance of labor statistics, confident that these findings will aid in building a more efficient and inclusive public sector workforce.
